Montenegro's marinas lie in the Bay of Kotor and at Bar. For a yacht arriving from abroad the first question is where to clear in: Porto Montenegro in Tivat (more than 500 berths, yachts up to 250 m), D-Marin Portonovi in Kumbor and Marina Kotor have police, customs and harbour master on site; Marina Bar (660 berths) is entered after clearing at Pier 5 of the Port of Bar. The table below gives berths, maximum length, VHF channel, fuel and border control for every marina, from the operators' own pages; each marina with its own page is linked.

Clearing in
A yacht arriving from abroad goes first to a port with border control. Porto Montenegro, D-Marin Portonovi, Marina Kotor and Zelenika have police, customs and harbour master on site; on the open coast the clearance point is Pier 5 of the Port of Bar, which works 24 hours, after which you move to Marina Bar. For the vignette the harbour master asks for an arrival notice, registration and seaworthiness papers, skipper and crew certificates, a crew list stamped by the harbour master, third-party liability insurance of at least €800,000, proof of ownership or an authorisation to use the boat, proof that the navigation fee has been paid, and veterinary certificates for any animals on board.
Clubs and regattas
Bar hosts about 15 regattas a year, including the Montenegro Cup for small sailing boats in July; the Porto Montenegro Yacht Club runs its own regatta in the bay. Sailing clubs with schools or hire: Jedriličarski klub Delfin in Tivat (founded 1951, school open to visitors), Jedriličarski klub Jugole Grakalić in Herceg Novi (founded 1948, sailing school), Lahor Sailing Club in Kotor (lessons and boat rental) and the Porto Montenegro Yacht Club. Day trips without your own boat are on the boat tours page.
Common questions
Which marina should I clear in at?
Any with border control on site: Porto Montenegro, D-Marin Portonovi (24 hours) or Marina Kotor in the Bay of Kotor, Zelenika at its mouth, or Pier 5 of the Port of Bar on the open coast. Lazure Marina, Luštica Bay and Marina Bar itself are not border crossings.
Where can I refuel?
Marina Bar (boats up to 40 m) and the tax-free dock in the Port of Bar (up to 150 m); D-Marin Portonovi; Marina Kotor only when no cruise ship is in port. Porto Montenegro, Lazure and Luštica Bay publish no fuel service.
What does a berth cost?
Porto Montenegro and Portonovi give prices on request; Marina Bar and Luka Kotor publish price lists as PDFs, linked from their pages here and not reproduced.
