Marina Bar lies in Bar bay beside the town beach of Bar, 104 nautical miles from Otranto. Run by AD Marina Bar, it has 660 sea berths for yachts up to 45 m, 250 dry berths, water and power at every berth, a fuel dock and a 100 t crane. The marina is not a border crossing: a boat arriving from abroad clears in first at Pier 5 of the Port of Bar next door, then moves to its berth.

Entering Montenegro by sea at Bar

Announce your arrival on VHF 9 or by phone, go first to Pier 5 in the Port of Bar for customs and border police, then enter the marina. For the vignette, the harbour master needs:

  • arrival notice
  • registration and seaworthiness documents
  • skipper and crew certificates
  • a crew list stamped by the harbour master
  • third-party liability insurance of at least €800,000
  • proof of ownership or an authorisation to use the boat
  • proof that the navigation fee has been paid
  • veterinary certificates for animals on board

The same documents apply at Montenegro's other entry ports.

Berths and prices

Berths are booked with the operator by phone or at booking@marinabar.me. Berth prices are in the operator's price list, published in Montenegrin; ask for a quote when booking.

Regattas and boat trips

Bar hosts about 15 regattas a year, among them the Montenegro Cup for small sailing boats in July. Boat trips along the municipality's 46 km of coast leave from the marina, and taxi boats run from it to beaches reachable only by sea, such as Kraljičina plaža.

Getting there by land

The marina is in the town centre: Gradska plaža (Topolica) runs from the marina to the Željeznica river beside the main promenade. Bar is the terminus of the Bar-Belgrade railway, and the Port of Bar next to the marina is the ferry port for Bari in Italy, served by Barska plovidba.

Bar's dive sites are on the Diving off Bar page; the nearest is King Nikola's yacht Rumija, 80 m from the main breakwater. Stari Bar is the old town on the hill above the modern one.
