Montenegro has three ski centres with chairlifts: Kolašin 1600 and Kolašin 1450 side by side on Bjelasica above Kolašin, and Savin kuk on Durmitor above Žabljak. Kolašin 1600 has the only six-seat lifts and the highest top station at 2,035 m, with a €25 day pass; Kolašin 1450 is private, older and cheaper at €15; Savin kuk has 4.6 km of pistes inside a national park. Two more state centres on Bjelasica, Cmiljača and Žarski, have lifts built and no opening date.

The three centres with chairlifts

  • Kolašin 1600, 12 km from Kolašin and 85 km from Podgorica, state-owned, opened in 2019. The six-seat K8 Troglava chairlift reaches 2,035 m, the highest top station in the country; a T-bar, a platter lift and a magic carpet serve the lower slopes. The operator counts about 21 km of pistes. No snowmaking or night skiing. Day pass €25 for adults and €16.50 for children up to 14; season pass €400 and €250; parking €7 a day. A restaurant with about 400 seats stands at the base, but no hotel is open there yet, so beds are in Kolašin town.
  • Kolašin 1450 at Jezerine, private and older, 9 to 12 km from Kolašin depending on the source. Base 1,450 m, lifts to about 1,900 m: the six-seat Viline Vode chairlift, the Ćupovi chairlift, surface lifts and a baby lift; piste length 17 to 26 km depending on the source. Day pass €15 for adults and €12 for children; season pass €400 and €250; residents of Kolašin, Berane, Andrijevica and Petnjica ski free on weekdays. The K7 lift that once linked the two Kolašin centres has been out of service since 2024, so they are separate areas with separate passes.
  • Savin kuk, about 5 km from Žabljak inside Durmitor National Park, state-run. Two two-seat chairlifts with top stations at 1,907 m and 2,213 m, three surface lifts (one floodlit for night skiing) and a children's lift; 4.6 km of pistes, three blue, one red, one black, and two snow guns. After a fatal chairlift accident in December 2025 the lower chairlift reopened on 31 January 2026 following a technical inspection, while the upper one did not run that winter; ask the centre which lifts are running before you go. The operator publishes no winter price list.

Under construction, planned and former

Cmiljača, 14 km from Bijelo Polje with a base at 1,570 m and a Leitner six-seat chairlift, and Žarski at Mojkovac on the right bank of the Tara are state projects on Bjelasica with lifts built and no opening date; together they are planned for 14 lifts and 60 km of pistes. Jelovica (Berane), Torine (Bijelo Polje) and Mountain Center Komovi exist on paper only. Smaller sites: Vučje, 20 km from Nikšić, with a 1,200 m run and two 120 m runs; Hajla near Rožaje with a 1,019 m run on Turjak; Lokve on Cmiljevica, 14 km from Berane, with 5 km of runs. Javorovača in Žabljak has no working lifts; Bosača and Štavna are defunct.

Season and getting there

At Kolašin 1600 the 2025/26 season ran from mid-December to early April, more than 67 ski days. Kolašin is on the Bar-Belgrade railway and about 30 minutes from Podgorica on the Podgorica-Mateševo motorway, 45 minutes from Podgorica Airport; a daily bus runs from the town centre to the slopes, and a 626-car garage for the two centres is under construction. Žabljak is 122 km from Podgorica via Nikšić, with beds in the town. Winter closures and chain rules are on the road conditions page; which centres are running in a given winter is on the skiing page.

Common questions

Which is the biggest ski resort?

Kolašin 1600 and Kolašin 1450 were sold as about 45 km of pistes when the K7 lift linked them; with K7 closed since 2024 they are separate areas, 1600 with the higher lifts and 1450 with more piste length by its own count. Savin kuk has 4.6 km.

Is there a joint pass for Kolašin 1450 and 1600?

No joint pass is published while K7 is closed. A Kolašin 1600 pass is announced as valid at Jahorina in Bosnia and Herzegovina; the price is not given.

Can you rent equipment?

At Kolašin 1600 an adult set (skis, poles, boots) costs €15 a day or €81 for seven days on the operator's list, helmets €6. Savin kuk has rental at the centre and in Žabljak; Kolašin 1450 does not state rental on its site.
