Charging an electric car in Montenegro takes planning: the map and the town list on this page show every public charger, but nearly every public point is AC Type 2 at 11 or 22 kW; DC fast charging (CCS or CHAdeMO, up to 50 kW) exists only in Podgorica, Bar and at Porto Montenegro in Tivat, and Tesla has destination chargers at Porto Montenegro and Luštica Bay but no Supercharger. The map and the list below show every public point by town, fast chargers first, with connectors, power, access and the date each entry was last checked.

Most chargers on the coast and in the north belong to a hotel, apartment house, restaurant or municipality. A charge in the Bay of Kotor or Budva means an AC point, often for guests only, so read the access line before you rely on it, and arrive in Kotor, Cetinje, Danilovgrad or Rožaje charged, because they have no public charger. Jugopetrol has chargers at seven of its EKO fuel stations, three in Podgorica and one each in Herceg Novi, Tivat, Žabljak and Bijelo Polje, but gives no power, connector or price for them; the power utility EPCG runs no public network and there is no national registry of charging points, so each site is one operator, one app or one QR code. Portonovi in Herceg Novi starts by QR code on its own platform (0.35 EUR/kWh) and accepts roaming apps; EVC Montenegro's app EVC Charge bills after each session and needs a payment card; Greencar.me's app runs on a prepaid balance. The EKO, Petrol and municipal chargers do not say which roaming cards they accept, so carry a Type 2 cable and more than one app.

Connector types and power come from Open Charge Map and OpenStreetMap; many entries were last verified in 2023, so a site may have changed since, and prices appear only after a review, with the date they were reported. The weekly fuel prices, the two tolls and the fuel stations have their own pages, and the driving page has the rules of the road.

Common questions

Where are the EV chargers in Montenegro?

The map and the list on this page carry the current count by town. Podgorica, Herceg Novi, Budva, Bar and Tivat have the most; Pljevlja, Žabljak, Bijelo Polje, Nikšić, Kolašin, Mojkovac, Berane, Andrijevica, Plav, Plužine and Ulcinj have one to three each.

Are there DC fast chargers?

A few, listed first on this page: in Podgorica, in Bar and at Porto Montenegro in Tivat, with CCS and CHAdeMO up to 50 kW. No DC socket is recorded in Herceg Novi, Kotor, Budva, Cetinje, Nikšić, Kolašin or Žabljak; everything else is AC Type 2 at 11 or 22 kW.

How do I start a charge and pay?

It depends on the site. Portonovi (Herceg Novi) starts by QR code and charges on its own platform, 0.35 EUR/kWh, and accepts third-party roaming apps. EVC Montenegro's app EVC Charge bills after each session and needs a payment card; Greencar.me's app uses a prepaid balance. The EKO, Petrol and municipal chargers do not say which foreign roaming card works, so carry a Type 2 cable and more than one app. Prices on this page are shown only after review, with the date reported.

Is there a Tesla Supercharger in Montenegro?

No. Tesla lists destination charging at Porto Montenegro (Tivat) and Luštica Bay (Radovići), recorded as 22 kW Tesla connectors last verified in 2019. The CCS sites in Podgorica, Bar and Tivat are the only DC option.

Which towns have no charger?

Kotor, Danilovgrad, Šavnik, Rožaje, Gusinje, Petnjica, Tuzi and Zeta have none in the open data, and Cetinje has at most one, at a restaurant. Kotor and Cetinje may have a few private sites not on this map, so charge before you arrive.
