The Montenegrin Gallery of Art "Miodrag Dado Đurić" (Crnogorska galerija umjetnosti "Miodrag Dado Đurić") is the contemporary exhibition space of the National Museum of Montenegro, at Balšića Pazar bb in Cetinje. It opened in 2012 in the converted former "Trgopromet" building and belongs to the Art Museum unit. There is no permanent display; the programme changes, and the gallery closes from 1 January until April.

Opening hours and tickets

From mid April to 15 November the gallery opens Tuesday to Saturday 09:00-16:00; the gallery page gives 7 April as the first day, the institution's timetable 15 April. From 16 November to 31 December it opens Tuesday to Saturday 10:00-16:00. From 1 January it is closed until the season restarts (6 April per the gallery page, 14 April per the timetable). It is closed on Sunday and Monday all year.

The gallery does not appear in the National Museum price list, so entry may be free or charged per exhibition; the museum has not published it. The collective National Museum ticket (€20, €10 reduced) covers the units that do charge.

What is shown

The gallery programme consists of retrospectives of Montenegrin artists, exhibitions by younger contemporary artists and guest shows from foreign and regional institutions. Alongside the exhibitions it runs lectures, film screenings, guided tours and concerts. The gallery is named after Miodrag Đurić Dado, one of the four painters with memorial rooms at the Art Museum in the Government House; Atelier Dado is linked to the gallery as well.

History

The building was a commercial one, the former "Trgopromet" store, converted for the gallery and opened in 2012, the same year the National Museum founded its Archaeological Museum and opened the lapidarium in the Biljarda courtyard.
