Buljarica is a 2,250 m beach 2 km south-east of Petrovac on the road to Bar, the longest beach on the Budva Riviera and the second longest in Montenegro after Ulcinj's Velika plaža. It is sandy at the Petrovac end and mostly pebble and stone along the rest, with an auto-camp, restaurants and cafés behind it and a wide marshy field at its back. Three of its bathing areas have held the Blue Flag, and a pet-friendly area sits at the eastern end.

Getting there
Buljarica lies just off the Adriatic highway south of Petrovac, in the municipality of Budva. The Budva-Petrovac city bus runs all year, about every hour from early morning to late evening, and ends in Petrovac centre, 2 km from the beach; a taxi stand is by the Petrovac bus station. By road from Petrovac: Budva 18 km (about 30 minutes), Sutomore 14 km (about 21 minutes), Bar 27 km (about 40 minutes), Tivat Airport 40 km (about 53 minutes), Podgorica Airport 48 km (about 59 minutes). There is a fuel station at Buljarica on the main road.
The beach
2,250 m long with an area of 72,850 m². The sand is at the north-western end nearest Petrovac; the long middle and eastern stretches are pebble and stone, so bathing shoes help. The beach is divided into bathing areas whose atlas codes begin with 27; the pet-friendly area is 27L at the eastern end. Behind the shore stand an auto-camp, several restaurants and cafés.

Loungers and the free half
Every public bathing area must keep half of its length free of loungers and umbrellas and mark it, with a free strip along the water and a passage to the sea at least every 20 m, so on a beach this long there is always a free stretch. Lifeguards are posted at least one per 50 m of shore in July and August and one per 100 m in the other months of the season, which runs from May to October, when the bathing water is also tested.
Blue Flag
Three bathing areas on Buljarica have held the Blue Flag: B5 (27A), Bridge (27B) and Nazaré Beach (27H). The flag belongs to each concession, not to the whole beach.
The field behind
Behind the beach lies the marshy Buljarica field, a refuge for rare plants and birds. On a rise by the Petrovac-Bar road above it stands Gradište monastery, by tradition founded in 1116 and first named in documents in 1305, with three churches inside a wall, rebuilt after the 1979 earthquake. Offshore, the islets Veliki and Mali Katič off Petrovac form the Katič nature park and marine protected area, and diving clubs from Petrovac dive the shore from Cape Dubovac to Čanj, which includes Buljarica bay.
