Mirište (often written Mirišta) is a beach of sand and concrete on the outer shore of the Luštica peninsula, between Žanjice cove and Mirište cape, in the municipality of Herceg Novi. It is reached by the road across Luštica or by sea, and it suits families. The neighbouring cove of Žanjice is where the tour boats of the bay stop, and Mamula island and the Blue Cave lie just off this stretch of coast.

Getting there

By road across Luštica. The Luštica panoramic road from the big roundabout on the Tivat-Budva road is a winding 40 km route through Krašići, Klinci, Mrkovi and Tići to Luštica Bay, with narrow, steep stretches, and the villages of the outer shore are reached from it. By sea, the excursion boats that run from Herceg Novi to the Blue Cave, the former submarine tunnels and Mamula stop at Žanjice next door. A seasonal tourist information bureau works at Žanjic from 1 June to 1 October.

The beach

Sand on the shore with concrete parts built along it. The beach lies between Žanjice cove and Mirište cape, at the mouth of the Bay of Kotor.

Rules and season

Every public bathing area must keep half of its length free of loungers and umbrellas, with a free strip along the water, and post lifeguards through the season, May to October, when the bathing water is also tested. Mirište was in the Blue Flag pilot phase from 2014 to 2016; in Montenegro the flag goes to a single bathing area run by one concession holder, not to a whole beach.
