Savin kuk is the ski area on Durmitor, inside Durmitor National Park, about 5 km from Žabljak. It is run by Turistički centar Durmitor, a state company founded on 29 October 2013 by the Investment Development Fund, which bought the ski area in bankruptcy for €1.5 million.

Lifts and pistes

There are two two-seat chairlifts, three surface lifts (one floodlit for night skiing) and a children's lift. Savin kuk I is 1,550 m long and ends at 1,907 m. Savin kuk II runs from 1,906 m to 2,213 m, near the Savin voda spring below the 2,325 m peak, giving a vertical of about 700 m; its length is 700 m according to the tourist board and 550 m in the 2014 government report.

The pistes total 4.6 km: three blue, one red, one black and a baby slope (the 2014 report gave about 5.5 km certified by FIS). A beginner area with a moving carpet and a tubing run was built for 2024/25, and two TechnoAlpin snow guns were installed for 2025/26, using an existing reservoir.

Season 2025/26

On 20 December 2025 an accident on the Savin kuk II chairlift killed one visitor and injured another. Both chairlifts were closed pending review; the surface lifts, which carry over 75% of winter traffic, reopened after a double inspection. Savin kuk I reopened on 31 January 2026, with skiing to the middle station. The season counted over 30,000 visitors and 8,000 ski passes. The government plans a completely new lift system following UNESCO recommendations, and the road from Motički gaj to Savin kuk is in the 2026 capital budget.

The operator's site publishes no winter price list. Rental is available in Žabljak and at the centre; there is a ski school, a ski service, the Durmitorsko sijelo restaurant and the Kulina café at the base, and an adventure park opened there on 3 June 2023.
