Drobni pijesak is a secluded cove of yellow-white sand with small pebbles, 250 m long, about 1 km below the Sveti Stefan-Petrovac road in the municipality of Budva. The name means "fine sand". A drinking-water spring rises on the beach, restaurants and cafés stand behind it, and the Pura Vida bathing area has held the Blue Flag. Land access is harder than at the roadside beaches, and the easiest way in is by boat.

Getting there

A turn-off from the Adriatic highway between Sveti Stefan and Petrovac leads down about 1 km to the cove; access over land is harder than at the roadside beaches. The Budva-Petrovac city bus, about hourly all year, stops at Reževići and Blizikuće on the main road above, from where the walk down and back up is the price of a quiet beach. The easiest way in is by boat; excursion boats work the coast between Budva and Petrovac.

The beach

250 m long with an area of 5,000 m². Yellow-white sand mixed with small pebbles, and a spring of drinking water on the beach itself. Restaurants and cafés stand behind the sand.

Loungers and the free half

Every public bathing area must keep half of its length free of loungers and umbrellas and mark it, with a free strip along the water and a passage to the sea at least every 20 m. Lifeguards are posted at least one per 50 m of shore in July and August and one per 100 m in the other months of the season, which runs from May to October, when the bathing water is also tested.

Blue Flag

The bathing area Pura Vida (23A) has held the Blue Flag, as has the neighbouring Hotel Ananti area (23B, Drobnići-Reževići). The flag belongs to each concession, not to the whole cove.

History

The Bankada, the court of the clan heads of the Paštrovići, once met on this beach. Under Venice the Paštrovići were a separate community next to Budva, and together the two formed the Venetian bastion on the southern Adriatic.
