Knjaževac is the memorial park of Andrijevica, on a terrace above the Lim next to the primary school. It commemorates more than 600 Partisan fighters and nearly 900 civilian victims from the Andrijevica area in the Second World War. Its main monument, by Vojislav Vujisić, is a 22 m tower of white marble made of six joined pillars with an eternal flame, unveiled on 17 July 1967, the 26th anniversary of the local uprising. Around it stand older memorials and the church of St Michael the Archangel of 1887, so the park gathers the town's history from the Balkan Wars to 1945 in one walk.

History
Andrijevica grew only in the mid-19th century, around the church (Andrijevna) that gave the town its name, and from 1878 it was the main political centre of northern Montenegro. Prince Nikola built the church of St Michael the Archangel on Knjaževac in 1887. The 1931 obelisk remembers the men of the Upper Vasojevići Brigade who fell between 1912 and 1918. On 17 July 1941 the first shot against the Italian occupation in the area was fired at Crvene prle; the date is the municipal day, and 26 years later, on 17 July 1967, the marble tower to the fallen of 1941-1945 was unveiled here.
Events
A traditional people's gathering (narodni sabor) is held at Knjaževac on 1 May. On 17 July, the day of the municipality, flowers are laid at the memorial at Crvene prle and the municipal assembly holds a formal session in town.
