The Monument to the Partisan Fighter stands on Gorica, the wooded hill that rises in the middle of Podgorica. It is a mausoleum: beneath it lie the remains of 66 people's heroes of Montenegro killed in the People's Liberation War of 1941-1945, and of two revolutionaries. It was unveiled on 13 July 1957, the anniversary of the 1941 uprising and today Montenegro's Statehood Day, to a design by the architect Vojislav Đokić and the sculptor Drago Đurović, and it has the status of a cultural property.
