Bigovo (Bigova) is a small sheltered cove on the Grbalj coast, the open-sea shore of Kotor municipality between Trašte bay and Platamuni cape. The village sits at the head of the bay; the shore is rock with jetties and a small pebble beach, and the sea is very clear. It is a place for a swim off the rocks and a quiet afternoon rather than a day on loungers, and the nearest beaches with full facilities are Ploče to the south-east and Plavi horizonti across Trašte bay.

The cove
The bay is sheltered, which is why the water stays clear and calm. Bathers use the jetties and the rocky shore as well as the pebble beach at the bottom of the bay. Come prepared for a village beach with what the village offers, not a resort.
Rules on the beach
Every public bathing area on the coast must keep half of its length free of loungers and umbrellas, with a free strip along the water and a passage to the sea at least every 20 m. Lifeguards are required on organised bathing areas through the season, May to October, when the bathing water is also tested. No bathing area at Bigova has held the Blue Flag; in Montenegro the flag goes to a single bathing area run by one concession holder, not to a whole beach.
Around Bigova
Platamuni, the cape beyond the next bay, is one of Montenegro's three marine protected areas, with Katič off Petrovac and Stari Ulcinj; the beach of Ploče lies at the cape, 11 km by road from Budva (about 19 minutes), with four pools, bars and a diving school. Trsteno, a sand cove, is the next beach towards Jaz. Inland, at Lješevići, a farm campsite works all year, with its peak season from May to September.
