Visitor is the mountain directly above Plav, across the valley from Prokletije: the view from the town takes in Plav Lake, Visitor and Prokletije. The summit is 2,210 m, with a second point at 2,196 m, and the glacial Visitorsko jezero lies on the mountain. Hikes on Visitor belong to the Prokletije group walked from Plav between June and the end of October, and a paragliding take-off at 1,589 m is on its slopes.

Peaks and the lake

The survey table of peaks over 1,800 m holds two Visitor points, 2,210 m and 2,196 m. Visitorsko jezero is one of the glacial lakes of the Prokletije area, together with Hridsko jezero (1,970 m) inside the national park across the valley and Plav Lake (906 m, 1.99 km², up to 9.1 m deep) at the foot of the mountain by the town, the source of the Lim. The lake on Visitor is closed to anglers: the national fishing order bans fishing on Visitorsko jezero and Hridsko jezero until 1 April 2027, bans sport fishing at night in all waters, and in the northern municipalities closes all trout from 1 November to 15 March.

Hikes

Visitor is one of the high mountains with a season from June to the end of October, and Plav is the start for most tours of the group, Visitor included. Across the valley, the walk to Hridsko jezero from the Plav side is 3.1 km and easy, about an hour, inside Prokletije National Park, where the day ticket is €3 per person. Plav and Gusinje are also the Prokletije bases of the Via Dinarica White Trail, whose last Montenegrin stage ends at Gusinje. The general rules for marked trails are on the hiking page; the emergency number 112 covers mountain rescue.

Paragliding

The Plav take-off on Visitor is at 1,589 m (42.5992, 19.8984), for south-east, east and north-east winds; the flying seasons are spring, summer and autumn, and the Paragliding Association of Montenegro publishes the take-off map with GPS points and contacts. Flights are allowed only in visual conditions, from half an hour before sunrise to half an hour after sunset. Organised flying (tandem, training, competitions) may use only sites the Civil Aviation Agency has approved for that operator, and a tandem passenger flies at their own risk. The other take-offs are on the paragliding page.

Getting there and season

Plav is 131 km and about 2 h 30 by car from Podgorica via Kolašin and Andrijevica, 141 km (about 2 h 45) from Podgorica Airport, 41 km (about 56 min) from Berane, 74 km (about 1 h 30) from Kolašin and 14 km (about 22 min) from Gusinje; free-flow driving times. The Plav-Gusinje basin is about 25 km long and about 5 km wide, running north to south, with Visitor above Plav. The season is June to the end of October.

Nearby

Prokletije National Park and the Prokletije range across the valley, Plav Lake at the foot of the mountain, Hridsko jezero in the park, and Komovi to the north, beyond Andrijevica. Hajla above Rožaje is the other high mountain of the east.

Questions
